Kontentino Newsflash: September 2026 Product Updates

Music for Instagram Reels, rebuilt @mentions, auto-scheduling after client approval, and smaller improvements.

Written by Alexandra

1. Add music to Instagram Reels

You can now add a track from Instagram's music library to your Reels directly in Kontentino. You can balance it with your video's original sound and preview the result without leaving the post editor.

How it works:

  • Select Reel as the post type in the post editor and click Add audio

  • Browse the library and filter by Music (tracks from Instagram's music library) or Original audio (sounds created by other users)

  • Pick a track and balance its volume with your video's original sound

  • Preview your Reel with audio, then schedule it as usual

Good to know:

  • Music is available for Instagram Reels only. It isn't available for Stories, carousels, image posts, or Facebook Reels.

  • Tracks always play from the beginning. You can't trim a track or choose a custom start point yet, because Instagram's API doesn't currently offer this option.

  • For the full step-by-step guide, see Add Instagram Music to Your Reels.

2. Mentions 2.0

Tagging pages and people in posts has been rebuilt end to end. It now runs inside Kontentino instead of a separate service, and when it can't find something it tells you why.

How it works:

  • Facebook Pages and LinkedIn companies: type @ and at least 3 characters, then pick the account from the suggestions.

  • LinkedIn personal profiles: type the person’s full name with a space between the first name and surname. Don’t use characters such as “_”, “-” or “.”.

  • X: tagging is back. Type the account’s full handle, e.g. @kontentino.

  • Instagram: paste the account’s handle. The tag is added to the caption, not to the image or video.

  • Direct mention: click the @ button in the editor toolbar and paste a Facebook Page link, a LinkedIn company link, or an Instagram handle. LinkedIn personal profile links don’t work here, because LinkedIn doesn’t let tools look people up by their profile address.

Good to know:

  • If no suggestions appear, the editor now tells you why and what to do, for example when a connection has expired or a permission is missing.

  • On X, there are no suggestions to confirm a handle before publishing. Copy the handle directly from X, because a typo will look fine in the editor but won’t link once the post is published.

  • On Instagram, we can only confirm business and creator accounts. For any other handle, the editor shows that it couldn’t confirm the account, but the post still publishes and Instagram links the mention if the account exists.

  • Brand names with multiple words, such as McDonald’s, L’OrĂ©al, or Ben & Jerry’s, now show up in search correctly, so you no longer need to type an underscore instead of a space.

  • Hashtag suggestions while typing have been removed, because no network offers an API for them and they hadn’t been returning results for a long time. Hashtag presets still work as before.

3. Rebuilt approvals with auto-scheduling

With the new auto-schedule option, a post you send for approval is scheduled automatically as soon as your client approves it.

How it works:

  • To turn it on, switch on the Auto-schedule on client approval toggle for a profile in the calendar settings

  • When you send a post on that profile to a client for approval and the client approves it, the post is scheduled automatically

  • To turn it off, switch the same toggle off. Approved posts will then wait for you to schedule them manually.

Good to know:

  • Auto-scheduling is set per profile, so you can turn it on for some profiles and leave it off for others

  • Status changes are now validated before they're applied, so a post marked "Scheduled" is always actually scheduled
