Why Pages Need Reconnecting

Social media platforms use secure access tokens to let Kontentino post on your behalf. These tokens can become invalid for several reasons:

Reason

What Happens

Token expiration

Most platforms (like Facebook) expire tokens every 60–90 days for security

Password change

Changing your social media password automatically revokes app access

Permission changes

If you update what Kontentino can do in your platform settings

Manual revocation

If you removed Kontentino from your connected apps on the platform

Platform policy changes

Sometimes platforms update their API and require fresh authorization

⚠️ Good to know: Reconnecting does not delete your scheduled or published posts. Your content is safe - you just need to refresh the connection so Kontentino can continue posting.

How to Know When to Reconnect

Kontentino gives you several indicators when a page needs reconnection:

Expiration Warnings

In your Authorization settings (My profile → Authorization), you’ll see token expiration information:

  • “Expires in 10 days (15.01.2026)” — Your token is still valid but expiring soon

  • “Expired 3 days ago (05.01.2026)” — Token has expired, reconnection needed

💡 Pro tip: Kontentino shows a warning icon 14 days before your token expires, giving you time to reconnect before it causes issues.

Reconnecting Your Pages

Here’s the general process for reconnecting any social media platform. Platform-specific details follow below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to Authorization settings
Click your profile avatar in the bottom left corner
    Select My profile → Authorization

  2. Find the platform that needs reconnecting
Scroll to the social network section (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Look for platforms with the ⚠️ red warning icon
You’ll see “This account is not connected” in the tooltip

  3. Click the Connect/Reconnect button
Click Reconnect on the account that needs refreshing
For Meta (Facebook/Instagram), both platforms reconnect together

  4. Log in to the social network
You’ll be redirected to the platform’s login page
Enter your credentials for that social account
Make sure you’re logging into the correct account

  5. Grant the required permissions
Review the permissions Kontentino is requesting
Click Allow, Authorize, or the equivalent button
These permissions let Kontentino post on your behalf

  6. Return to Kontentino
    You’ll be automatically redirected back
The account should now show a ✅ green checkmark
Your scheduled posts can now be published

💡 Tip: Make sure you’re logged into the correct social media account in your browser before clicking Reconnect. Otherwise, you might authorize the wrong profile.

What Happens to Scheduled Posts?

Scenario

What Happens

Existing scheduled posts

Stay in the system, waiting to be published

Attempting to publish

Post fails with an error message

After reconnecting

Previously scheduled posts can be published normally after manual rescheduling

No data loss: Your posts aren’t deleted when an account disconnects. Just reconnect and you’re back in business.

Sharing Access Tokens

If you work on a team, you can share your access token so other team members can publish using your connected account.

How to Share Access

  1. In Authorization settings, navigate to the platform you wish to share

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)

  3. Toggle Share access ON

When shared:

  • Team members with Admin or Manager roles can schedule and publish posts

  • A users icon appears next to the account name

💡 Tip: Shared tokens let teams collaborate without multiple logins.

Disconnecting a Page

Need to remove a social media connection entirely?

  1. Go to My profile → Authorization

  2. Find the platform you want to disconnect

  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋮)

  4. Select Disconnect (for Meta, click the trash icon)

  5. Confirm the action

⚠️ For Meta (Facebook/Instagram): disconnecting removes both platforms together.

Troubleshooting

Having issues reconnecting? Here are the most common problems and how to fix them:

Can’t See the Page You Want to Connect

What you’ll see:
After authorizing, the expected page doesn’t appear in your options.

Why it happens:

  • You don’t have admin access to the page

  • You’re logged into the wrong social media account

  • The page hasn’t been granted proper permissions

How to fix it:

  1. Log out of the social network in your browser

  2. Log in with the account that has admin access to the page

  3. Try the reconnection process again

  4. Make sure you select all required permissions when asked

Authorization Keeps Failing

What you’ll see:
You complete the login process but the account stays disconnected.

Why it happens:

  • Browser cookies or cache issues

  • Pop-up blocker interfering

  • Security software blocking the redirect

How to fix it:

  1. Clear your browser cache and cookies

  2. Try a different browser (Chrome recommended)

  3. Disable any ad blockers or pop-up blockers temporarily

  4. Try in an incognito/private window

“You Haven’t Reconnected Your Profile” Error

What you’ll see:
Error message when trying to schedule:
“You haven’t reconnected your LinkedIn profile and an old LinkedIn authorization is being used.”

Why it happens:
An old, expired token is still associated with your profile.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to My profile → Authorization

  2. Find the affected platform

  3. Click the three dots → Disconnect first (or the trash icon for Meta)

  4. Then click Connect to set up a fresh connection

Posts Still Failing After Reconnection

What you’ll see:
You reconnected but posts are still failing to publish.

Why it happens:

  • Permissions weren’t fully granted during reconnection

  • Page role was changed on the social network side

  • You authorized a different profile than expected

How to fix it:

  1. Disconnect the account completely

  2. Go to the social network’s app settings and remove Kontentino

  3. Reconnect fresh from Kontentino

  4. Ensure you grant ALL requested permissions

Best Practices & Pro Tips

✅ Do

  • Reconnect proactively when you see the 14-day expiration warning

  • Use a dedicated browser profile for your social media accounts

  • Keep track of which account credentials connect which pages

  • Check the Authorization page monthly to catch issues early

❌ Avoid

  • Waiting until posts fail to reconnect

  • Changing your social media passwords without reconnecting afterward

  • Removing Kontentino from your connected apps on the platform

  • Having multiple people authorize the same page using the same login (use shared tokens instead)

💡 Pro Tips

  • Set a quarterly calendar reminder to check your connections

  • Use the Share access feature for team accounts instead of multiple authorizations

FAQs

Q: How often do I need to reconnect?

A: It depends on the platform. Facebook/Instagram tokens expire every 60–90 days. Other platforms may have different expiration periods. Kontentino warns you 14 days before expiration so you can reconnect proactively.

Q: Will reconnecting delete my scheduled posts?

A: No. Reconnecting refreshes your authorization without affecting any of your content. Your scheduled posts, drafts, and published content remain exactly as they were.

Q: Why do Facebook and Instagram reconnect together?

A: Both platforms are owned by Meta and share the same authorization system. When you connect to Meta, you’re authorizing access to both platforms at once.

Q: Can I connect multiple LinkedIn profiles?

A: Yes. LinkedIn allows you to connect multiple company pages and personal profiles. You can also disconnect individual LinkedIn profiles without affecting others.

Q: What permissions does Kontentino need?

A: Kontentino requests permissions to post content, manage pages, and access basic profile information. These permissions are required for scheduling and publishing to work. Always grant all requested permissions.

Q: Someone else connected our company page. Can I reconnect it?

A: You’ll need the same level of access (usually admin) on the social network to reconnect. If another team member originally connected it, coordinate with them or use the Shared Access Token feature.

Wrapping Up

Reconnecting your pages is a normal part of keeping your social media accounts secure - and it only takes a minute once you know where to go.

Keep an eye on expiration warnings, reconnect proactively, and you’ll avoid any publishing disruptions.
