Need to reuse a post or create a similar one without starting from scratch? Post duplication in Kontentino lets you copy a single post or duplicate multiple posts in bulk - in just a few clicks.

How to Duplicate a Single Post

You can duplicate a post from any calendar view. The exact action depends on the view, but the logic stays the same.

How it works

  1. Open Calendar, List, Board, or Grid view

  2. Duplicate the post:

    • Calendar: Drag & drop the post down to the Drop to duplicate area

    • List: Click the three dots in the post row โ†’ Duplicate

    • Grid / Board: Open the post โ†’ click the Duplicate icon (top right, the second icon from left, next to Copy link)

  3. The Duplicate Posts modal opens

  4. Select one or more destination profiles

  5. (Optional) Choose a Content Plan for better categorization of your content

  6. Set scheduling:

    • Duplicate as a draft or keep the original post status

    • Set a custom date/time (or keep the original)

  7. Click Duplicate

Your post is copied to the selected profile(s).

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Use Profile groups if you wish to duplicate the post to multiple profiles with fewer clicks. Select the profile group in the profile selector, and all the profiles within that group will be preselected in the Duplicate posts modal. You can add more profiles or exclude some if needed.

Calendar view: Drag and drop duplication within a Profile group

List view: Single post duplication using the three dots โ†’ Duplicate

Board view/Grid view: Single post duplication via opening the Post modal

How to Duplicate Multiple Posts at Once (Bulk Duplication)

Perfect for campaigns or repurposing content at scale.

How it works

  2. Select multiple posts using the checkboxes

  3. Click Time Savers (top right)

  4. Choose Duplicate Posts

    • Add one or more target profiles

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Bulk duplication is ideal when duplicating an entire week or campaign to another profile / time period.

Duplicate Options Explained

Target settings

  • Destination profile: Where the post will be copied

  • Content plan: Optional, helps with organization of your content

  • + Add profile: Duplicate to multiple profiles at once

Scheduling options

  • Duplicate as draft: For further review or edits

  • Custom date/time: For rescheduling

  • Keep original timing: Copies the original schedule

โš ๏ธ Good to know: Posts with statuses like Posted, Failed, or Exported are always duplicated as drafts.

What Gets Copied (and What Doesnโ€™t)

โœ… Copied

  • Post text (including translations)

  • Media (images, videos, galleries)

  • Internal notes

  • Tags and labels

  • Budget info

  • Link preview settings

  • Post type and format

โŒ Not copied

  • Approval workflow status

  • Internal and client communication

  • Platform-specific profile/page mentions

  • Some audience restrictions (platform-dependent)

๐Ÿ’ก Each duplicated post links back to the original in the Activity section.

Platform-Specific Behavior

When duplicating between platforms, Kontentino automatically adapts content:

Facebook โ†’ Instagram

  • Link posts โ†’ Photo posts

  • Galleries โ†’ Single image

  • Text trimmed to platform limits

  • Mentions removed

  • Audience targeting removed

General rules

  • Text length adjusted per platform

  • Media preserved when supported

  • Unsupported features removed or transformed

โš ๏ธ Always review duplicated posts when switching platforms.

Troubleshooting

Post duplicated but not scheduled

Why: Scheduling conflict or profile restrictions
โ€‹Fix: Open the duplicated post (saved as draft) โ†’ set a new date/time โ†’ schedule again

Duplicate option missing

Why: Insufficient permissions
โ€‹Fix: Ask your admin for Manager or Admin access

Content looks different

Why: Platform-specific formatting rules
โ€‹Fix: Open the duplicate โ†’ review and adjust โ†’ save

Best Practices

Do

  • Review posts before scheduling

  • Use drafts when duplicating cross-platform

  • Set custom dates for seasonal content

  • Use bulk duplication for campaigns

Avoid

  • Skipping platform checks

  • Assuming formats behave the same everywhere

  • Forgetting to update time-sensitive info

๐Ÿ’ก Pro tip: Create one โ€œmasterโ€ post and duplicate it to other profiles for consistent messaging.
