⛓️💥 Are your Facebook and Instagram profiles frequently disconnecting?
You are likely connected with Facebook Page Admin - Login, which relies only on your Facebook page roles. While this works for light users managing a single page, these standard tokens are not meant for secure, high-volume use and can expire easily.
If you change your Facebook password, or if Meta makes updates to their API that affect token validity, this standard connection can quietly break.
To ensure a stable, long-term connection for your profiles, we highly recommend switching to Safe Connect.
🛠️ How Safe Connect works
Safe Connect authenticates through your Meta business portfolio rather than a personal Facebook profile. Because access is managed at the portfolio level, the connection doesn't depend on any single person's Facebook login. It isn't affected by that person's password changes, session expiry, or personal permission changes the way the standard connection is.
Safe Connect also uses a non-expiring token, which minimizes the need for frequent reconnections and ensures a more stable connection over time.
When you add a Facebook or Instagram profile, Kontentino asks you to select the way of connecting your Meta profiles. Choose Meta Business Manager - Login for Safe Connect. You can also switch a profile you've already connected from Facebook Page Admin - Login (see section 6).
Switching to Safe Connect does not affect your existing scheduled or published content. Kontentino only checks the connection at the moment a post is published, so migrating between connection methods is non-destructive.
👇 What you need before you connect
Safe Connect connects a page through a Meta business portfolio where you are an admin (Meta calls this Full control). The page can be owned by that portfolio, or shared into it by another portfolio, for example your client's.
In practice, that means:
Your Facebook Page (and its linked Instagram account) must sit inside a Meta Business Portfolio.
You must have Full control of that portfolio, or of a portfolio the page is shared with.
Instagram must be a professional (Business or Creator) account linked to a Facebook Page — a standalone Instagram account won't appear.
On Facebook, switch to the Page’s profile
Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Linked accounts → Instagram
In Meta Business Suite, go to the portfolio settings → Pages → Connect assets → Instagram account

⚠️ When organising pages into a Business Portfolio, ensure that access is granted to the current owner when moving a page. Failure to do so may result in Meta removing their access.
🔗 How to connect your profiles
Add a new profile from Calendar → click on the Create button in the left side panel and choose Add profile, or use the + Add profile button in the top right corner.
Hover over Facebook or Instagram and click Continue.
Click on Continue with Business Manager.
Log in to Facebook or click Continue as [Your Name] and confirm the permissions Kontentino asks for.
If you wish to only add some of your portfolios, in the next step, click on Edit settings > Opt in to current Pages only and choose which you want to connect.
In Choose the pages to add, your business portfolios are on the left and their pages on the right. On a small screen, you see the portfolios first and the pages under them.
Every page you can add is already ticked. Untick any you don't want in Kontentino. You can pick pages from several portfolios in one go, and the counter at the bottom shows how many are selected. If your plan limits the number of profiles, a line next to it shows how many more you can add.
Click Add [number] pages. Connecting pages from several portfolios can take a little while, so keep the window open.
When you see Profiles added successfully!, click Add more profiles to connect another one, or Back to calendar.
If Meta refuses some pages, Kontentino still adds the rest and shows Some pages couldn't be connected, with the reason for each page.
If connecting takes longer than usual, Kontentino asks you to connect again. The second attempt is much quicker.

🔁 Switch profiles you've already connected
Go to Kontentino → profile icon (bottom-left corner) → Connections.
Click Refresh next to the Facebook or Instagram profile.
Click on Continue with Business Manager, then log in.
The page list ticks only the pages you already have in Kontentino. Check the list and click Add [number] pages.
Profiles connected this way show a grey Safe connect chip on the Connections page.
The Safe connect button next to a profile opens the same page list, but with every page you can add ticked. Untick the ones you don't want before you click Add [number] pages.
