Have you suddenly lost your ability to schedule posts? You may need to reauthorize your connection between Kontentino and Facebook. ☝️
Kontentino has two ways to connect to Facebook: Page Admin Access (the standard method, based on your personal Facebook login) and Safe Connect (a more reliable method based on your Meta Business Portfolio). What you need to do to fix publishing depends on which one you're using.
1. Which connection method am I using?
Go to Kontentino → profile icon (bottom-left corner) → Connections and check the profile you're having trouble with:
Grey Safe connect chip next to the profile name, only a Refresh button — you're on Safe Connect. Go to section 3.
No chip, but a separate Safe connect button next to Refresh — you're on Page Admin Access, and Safe Connect is available for this profile. Go to section 2; consider switching to Safe Connect (see the button, or the guide linked in section 3) so this doesn't keep happening.
No chip, only a Refresh button — you're on Page Admin Access, and Safe Connect isn't available for this profile yet. Go to section 2.
2. Page Admin Access: how to reauthorize
What is reauthorization? Simply put, reauthorization means refreshing the connection between Facebook and Kontentino. By refreshing it, you allow in your Facebook account a third-party app like Kontentino to access your data and publish on behalf of a page.
Why is reauthorization needed? You may be asked to reauthorize your connection when:
Your Facebook access token expires. (This is required by Facebook every 90 days due to the security measures for third-party apps.)
You changed your Facebook password.
Meta made a change in their API.
You manage and want to add a new Facebook page to Kontentino that wasn't connected to Kontentino before, so access to such a new page needs to be remembered.
Before starting the reauthorization process, ensure you have a sufficient role assigned to the page. To check this, switch to the Page → go to Settings → Page setup → Page access (make sure you're listed under People with Facebook access):
Alternatively, you can have a Full access role in the Meta Business Suite/Manager.
If you have the role and permissions to manage the page, you can reauthorize the connection by following these 2 steps:
2.1 Remove the Kontentino integration from Facebook Business Integrations
Switch to your personal Facebook profile (not the Page)
Open: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=business_tools
or
Profile picture → Settings & Privacy → Settings → Your activity and permissions → Business integrationsFind Kontentino
Click Remove
⚠️ Removing the integration does not delete scheduled or published posts, and it does not affect any other profiles you have connected via Safe Connect. It only resets permissions on the Page Admin Access connection so you can reconnect cleanly. Kontentino only checks the connection at the moment a post is published, so this is non-destructive.
2.2 Authorize the connection in Kontentino
Once the integration is removed:
Go to Kontentino → click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner → Connections → click on Refresh
Log in to your personal Facebook account
In the Reconnect to Kontentino window, click Edit settings. Here you have two options for granting Kontentino access — opt in for your current pages/businesses only, or for all current and future pages/businesses. Select your preference and make sure all permissions are granted to all profiles (both Facebook and Instagram) → then hit Reconnect and save your preferences
Once you're back in Kontentino, select the business pages you want to connect and finish by clicking Add profile
❗️If you're managing any Instagram pages in Kontentino, make sure to reconnect Instagram too (in the same way as you just did with Facebook). Instagram must be a professional account linked to a Facebook Page — a standalone account won't appear.
Amazing! ✨ Now your pages are connected, and you can keep scheduling your content for Facebook.
⚠️ My pages aren't showing up when I try to connect
This usually means a role or permissions issue rather than a broken connection. See:
3. Safe Connect: how to refresh
Safe Connect authenticates through your Meta Business Portfolio instead of a personal Facebook login, and it uses a non-expiring token, so it doesn't hit the 90-day expiry, password changes, or session issues that Page Admin Access can run into.
If posts on a Safe Connect profile fail to publish, refreshing may still resolve it: go to Kontentino → profile icon (bottom-left corner) → Connections and click Refresh next to the profile.
Note: exactly when a Safe Connect profile needs a manual refresh isn't fully confirmed yet — this is the one known case (posts failing to publish). We'll update this once we know more.
If a page or Instagram account isn't showing up at all when connecting via Safe Connect, that's usually a Business Portfolio access issue rather than something Refresh will fix — see the full setup and troubleshooting guide: How to Connect Your Meta Profiles in Kontentino Using Safe Connect and Setting Up Meta Business Portfolio Access for Safe Connect.
Not yet on Safe Connect and want to switch? See the same guide — it also covers migrating a Page Admin Access profile over, which doesn't affect your existing scheduled or published content.
