Meta One link limits on Facebook: what it means for your scheduled posts

Meta is testing a limit of 2 link posts per month on some Facebook Pages without Meta One. What it means for posts scheduled through Kontentino, and our current recommendations.

Written by Alexandra

Meta is testing a limit of 2 link posts per month on some Facebook Pages. Pages without a Meta One subscription are affected, and links in comments count too. If you schedule link posts through Kontentino, here is what we know so far and what we recommend.

What is the Meta One link limit?

Meta is rolling out the limit gradually, so it doesn't apply to every Page yet. If you manage several Pages, some may already be in the test while others aren't, so check each Page separately. Affected Pages see a counter in Facebook showing how many link posts are left that month.

Pages in the test can share links in 2 posts per month for free, and that allowance resets every month. Keep in mind that a link in a comment counts as well, so moving the link to the first comment won't save you a slot. Ads aren't affected, and neither are personal profiles or Groups.

More links are available with paid Meta One plans. Unlimited links come only with the top plan, reported at $499 per month.

What happens when you post a third link?

When you post directly in Facebook, the post is blocked. Users on affected Pages report a pop-up saying the limit has been reached, with a prompt to learn more about Meta One. Meta itself hasn't officially documented this behavior.

So far, these reports come from people posting natively, in Facebook itself or in Meta Business Suite. Users also report that sharing another Page's post containing a link counts toward the limit.

Does this affect posts scheduled in Kontentino?

Based on what we know today, no. Other social media management tools that publish through Meta's API report no impact on link posts published through their platforms. Users have also confirmed that link posts sent through third-party tools still go live after the limit is reached in Facebook.

Posts scheduled before the limit appeared also published normally.

Because Meta is still testing and adjusting this feature, things can change quickly. We follow every update and will adapt Kontentino if needed.

What we recommend

  1. Keep scheduling link posts in Kontentino. Your content plan doesn't need to change for now.

  2. Don't edit published link posts directly in Facebook. Users report that editing a link post in Facebook can trigger the limit warning. Double-check links and copy before a post goes live.

  3. Watch for the notice. If you see the link counter in Facebook on any of your Pages, that Page is part of the test. Let us know so we can keep an eye on it with you.

  4. Use your link posts wisely. The rules may tighten, so it's worth deciding which campaigns most need a link and preparing native alternatives, such as Facebook Events.

  5. Invest in channels you own. Newsletters and your website don't depend on platform rules.

We'll keep you updated

We're following how Meta develops this test and will update this article as soon as anything changes.
